Sharing information across Wiltshire health and social care partners is beneficial to both clinicians and patients, however everyone must be confident that organisations who receive the information will protect it and use it responsibly and lawfully.
Level 1 Information Sharing Protocol
Wiltshire health and social care partners have developed a Level 1 Information Sharing Protocol which if signed by partner organisations should give some confidence to data controllers that those organisations are able to adhere to the standards and practices outlined in the document.
We have created a Register, found below, which will be updated when partner organisations return their signed Level 1 Information Sharing Protocol document...

Level 2 Individual Data Sharing Agreement
Wiltshire health and social care partners have also worked together to create a standard Individual Data Sharing Agreement template. This document should be used by any organisation requesting access to the data of another organisation operating within Wiltshire, where that data is not for the purposes of direct patient care. When completed this document will specify the data required, how and why it will be used, and by whom, as well as defining the legal basis for sharing.
The template is a starting point for negotiations between the organisations sharing the data and can be adjusted to suit the needs of all of those involved.
There is also a guidance document to help organisations complete the Level 2 Individual Data Sharing Agreement which also provides further guidance and links to sources of information such as the Information Commissioner’s Code of Practice on Data Sharing and NHS Digital’s Data Security and Standards.
